Each month, a gathering for former residents and their friends called "Matthew House Club" is held in downtown Toronto. It runs from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. and generally takes place on the third Saturday of each month. The event includes special guest speakers on relevant topics (such as preparing for refugee hearing, banking , budgetting etc.) as well as sports, crafts and special programs children.
A delicious dinner is followed by a time of music, games or special talents and a brief inspirational talk. This is a popular event for many former residents as it gives them the chance reunite with old friends, make new friends and to share stories and strategies for adapting to life in Canada.
Helping with a large event such as this drop-in is an excellent way in which large groups can serve and catch a glimpse of the ministry. Volunteers provide the meal (for approximately 75 people) and help with the general running of the event.
All are welcome.
Occasionally the date must be changed, so please call the Matthew House special events Hotline at 416-364-8287 to hear more information.
