WHY THE REFUGEE CRISIS NEEDS YOU.
There are more displaced people in the world than ever before—65.6 million have been forced from home, including nearly 22.5 million refugees.
In 2017 Canada received 50,080 refugee claimants, the highest number ever, with an additional 27,000 arriving as sponsored refugees.
THE JOURNEY OF A REFUGEE CLAIMANT
Each year millions of refugees make the difficult decision to flee their homeland in search of a safe place to call home. A few manage to secure sponsorships ahead of time, but many, in desperation, seek protection upon arrival in a new country. In Canada, there are no formal support services for these refugee claimants, making their initial days very difficult.
THIS IS NASIMA'S STORY.
