Greg’s Walk for Refugees
I first found out about Matthew House when I was doing a favour for a friend and dropped off a case of Campbell Soup to the main house.
What was intended to be a quick 'drop and dash' ended up being a two hour lesson in gratefulness, mercy, community, care and love. Over a period of 120 minutes I met five wonderful human beings who had travelled very far, escaped traumatic situations and yet who seemed grateful, hopeful and excited about the opportunities ahead of them.
This beautiful encounter stopped me in my tracks, reminded me what was really important and refreshed my perspective of how fortunate I am to live in a country where there are no bombs or war, that is relatively safe and where we have most of what we need. In addition to activating my gratitude I soon became a volunteer and am now on my second round as a board member.
