Public Education & Advocacy

Our direct service is coupled with continuous advocacy to the unique experiences of refugees led by our founding director, Anne Woolger. Anne has been involved in the refugee advocacy community for 30 years and has participated in local, national and international refugee organizations including representing Canada at UNHCR meetings in Geneva. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Inland Protection Working Group of the Canadian Council for Refugees. By providing resources and education on the unique challenges refugees face, Matthew House hopes to fulfill our mission since opening in 1998: upholding dignity, restoring agency, and inspiring hope.
